Legendary Ladies: Oldies But Goldies

 

Beyaz perde efsaneleri sonbahar yaprakları gibi bir bir aramızdan ayrılırken ve biz erkek oyuncuların bir kısmına tribute dosyalar hazırlamışken, hâlen hayatta olan aktrislerin de belli bir yaşın üzerinde olanlarını bir toparlayıp sinefillere hatırlatmak gerektiğini düşündüm. 65 yaşı sınır tuttuğumda epey bir kalabalık çıktı, o yüzden şimdilik 70 yaş ve üzeri oyuncuları baz alıp, belli bir süre sonra daha genç olanlarını da ekleyerek derlemeyi zenginleştirebilirim. Aşağıda bahsedeceğim 80 küsur oyuncunun hayat hikayelerinden ziyade, sinemayla daha alakalı olarak, öne çıkan filmlerinden bahsederek görsellerine yer vereceğim. Sinemaestro okurları olarak bu formata zaten Özel Dosyalar bölümümüzden alışkınsınız. O halde hiç zaman kaybetmeyelim ve 70 ila 102 yaş arası, halen hayatta olan sinema efsanelerine bir göz atarak saygı duruşunda bulunalım.

 

Galerimize katmadığım eski çınarlarla başlayayım işe. Tüm bu isimleri tararken bazı isimleri toplamın dışında bıraktım, ismi daha çok duyulmuş olanları baz almak daha doğru bir fikirdi. Fakat bazı isimler vardı ki, yaşları dolayısıyla göz ardı etmek mümkün değildi, ta sessiz sinemadan gelip asırlık çınara dönüşmüşlerdi tarihe tanıklık etmiş efsaneler olarak: Anita Page (1910), Barbara Kent (1906), Miriam Seegar (1907), Dorothy Janis (1910), Gloria Stuart (1910) ve Pink Floyd'un adına şarkı yaptığı şarkıcı-oyuncu Vera Lynn (1917), bu toplamın en eski isimleriydiler. Gloria Stuart'a bir parantez açmak gerek, zira kendisi The Invisible Man'de (1933) başrol oynaması yanı sıra, Titanic (1997) ile Oscar'a aday olmuş en yaşlı oyuncu olmuştu. Bu rekoru halen kırılamamıştır. Filmin kadrosunda Titanic faciası dönemini yaşayan tek oyuncu da odur.

Elbette "Altın Kızlar"ı atlamak olmazdı, Dorothy, Rose ve Blanche, yani Beatrice Arthur (13 Mayıs 1922), Betty White (17 Ocak 1922) ve Rue McClanahan (21 Şubat 1934); tek kanallı dönemde 7 sezon boyunca evlerimize konuk oldular. Sophia'nın (Estelle Getty, 25 tem. 1923- 22 tem. 2008) geçtiğimiz ayki vedasıyla ekibi dağılan kızlarımızı yeniden hatırlyor ve sevgiyle anıyoruz.

 

Doğum tarihleri arasında sık sık baş gösteren uyuşmazlıklar, bazı isimlerde had safhaya ulaştı: Diane Ladd'in doğum yılı imdb'de 1932, wikipedia'da 1935 olarak verilirken, kendi web sitesinde ise 1942 olarak gözüküyordu. Kendini genç gösterme merakının bu camiada yaygın olduğunu biliyordum ama 10 yıl da çok fazla! Bu nedenle Diane Ladd'i kadro dışı bıraktım.

Bu derlemeyi çok daha önce yapmayı düşünmüştüm, o arada kaybettiğimiz efsanelerden birkaçını da, isimleriyle de olsa anmak isterim: Katharine Hepburn (1907-2003), Fay Wray (1907-2004), Wendy Hiller (1912-2003), June Allyson (1917-2006), Jane Wyman (1917-2007), Teresa Wright (1918-2005), Virginia Mayo (1920-2005), Shelley Winters (1920-2006), Alida Valli (1921-2006), Deborah Kerr (1921-2007), Cyd Charisse (anmıştık, 1921-2008), Kim Hunter (1922-2002), Yvonne De Carlo (1922-2007), Katy Jurado (1924-2002), Jeanne Crain (1925-2003), Ingrid Thulin (1926-2004), Maria Schell (1926-2005), Janet Leigh (1927-2004), Anne Bancroft (1931-2005), Suzanne Pleshette (1937-2008), Sandra Dee (1942-2005) ve daha birçoğu, bu sürede aramızdan ayrıldılar, fakat filmleriyle her daim hatırlanacaklar.

70 yaşın altındaki oyuncuları derlemeye dahil etmediğimi söylemiştim fakat albümün kapağına onları temsilen Catherine Deneuve'u iliştirdiğim herhalde meraklı gözlerden kaçmamıştır. Bitişi de gümüş ekranın en zarif hanımefendilerinden biriyle, "Torch Lady" Deborah Kerr ile yapıyor ve bu yaşayan efsaneleri filmleri ile her daim anmanız dileğiyle derlememi noktalıyorum.
